Today was another great turnout in Maker Space at New York Hall of Science (NYSCI). Visitors built their own thaumatropes using paper, colourful straws and their choice of markers.
These thaumatropes have a picture (or set of pictures) on each side and when turned quickly back and forth, pictures combine to form a single image. This is seen and is an example of apparent motion.
