In our earlier posts you might have read about the famous exhibit (considered by most Explainers) ‘The Bike Chain’ and might have also laughed after viewing series of comic strips created by our own Jessica Castillo (Senior Explainer, NYSCI).

Well, now it’s time to know a little more about ‘The Bike Chain’.

This art piece and a scientific exhibit was created by an artist, engineer and an innovator, Norman Tuck. Here, the chain responds to touch and provides feedback in the form of various interesting shapes. When waves travel in the direction opposite to the direction of the moving chain, they seem to move very slowly, or even appear to stand still.
