What made Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia confirm the crash of Flight MH370?
It wasn’t loss of hope, or fear of failure. It was scientific data.
Just like sirens from an ambulance, the frequency of waves change as they come closer to you and then again as they move away. This is known as the Doppler Effect. Radio waves emitted from the Flight MH370 were subject to the Doppler Effect too.
British satellite findings from Inmarsat indicated a shift in the Doppler Effect from MH370’s radio waves. When Inmarsat plotted possible paths of the flight, all research led to a crash in the Southern Indian Ocean.
The Explainers at the NY Hall of Science send their sincere condolences to the passengers and loved ones of flight MH370.
